Customised Ikea Step Stool

 

I had this Ikea step stool for some time and decided to make it prettier (I do use it a lot in the kitchen for reaching staff and for sitting on). Here is what you can do to get a similar look:

1. Sand it lighty with medium grade sanding paper (this roughens the surface so the paint will adhere). Whipe off any dust with a damp cloth;

2. Apply two coats of white Ikea glazing paint (I love whitened wood);

3. Stencil your chosen design on it (acrylic paint works well on wood);

4. Finally apply two coats of varnish to protect the surface from damage.
